TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:

"We're all artists. We all have music in us and gifts to give. As a teacher, coach and mentor I start where you are. My intention is to bring you my 30+ years of experience and design a practice and study plan that matches your goals. As you learn and gain courage and confidence, you'll find greater freedom and new ways to your express your authenticity. Ways that liberate you and all who hear you.

My interest is to help you realize your creativity and dreams. Everyone has a unique, natural voice which deserves attention. Most of us are self-taught to some degree. No one need 'go it alone.' I work with people of all kinds and ages, long-time musicians and first-timers. I've coached and have composed songs with children age 4up and elders age 100+. There's always more to learn!

At the Song Studio you'll find a holistic (body-mind-spirit) approach and a
'full-bodied' (robust) understanding of the voice in our lives and the role of
artists in society. Diversity in musical and performance traditions and cultures are valued. Your sense of where music lives in your world is appreciated.
I have eclectic tastes in music and training that includes classical, choral, jazz, folk, pop, a capella, broadway, blues, cantorial and world music. I've worked extensively with individuals and groups in classroom and community settings. Whether you currently call yourself a singer, instrumentalist, songwriter, speaker, poet, thinker - or are hoping to... You are welcome!

I believe the best learning - and teaching - takes place in a spirit of collaboration.

I look forward to being of service." ---Judith-Kate Friedman
